As a school we embrace language learning, recognising the importance of equipping our students for life in a multi-cultural world. Our skilled staff are passionate about language learning and strive to make it an enjoyable and rewarding experience for all our students. We encourage active participation in lessons and expect students to complete a learning, research based or written homework task each week to help them achieve their potential.

All key stage 3 students will have the opportunity to learn Spanish.  We encourage as many students as possible to gain a qualification in a modern foreign language and we also support those students who wish to take a GCSE in their heritage language.

In key stage 3 students learn the vocabulary and structures needed to talk and write about a range of topics related to themselves including family, friends, school, free time, holidays and the local area. They also have the opportunity to learn about the culture and traditions of those countries where Spanish is spoken.

We currently have a GCSE Spanish group in year 10.  They are following the Edexcel GCSE course, which incorporates skills learnt in KS3 French and enable students to develop the language and skills needed to communicate when travelling, at work and for further study.

In Years 7, 8 & 9 students also have the opportunity to study French/Spanish - whichever is not their main subject.
